Torta de Milanesa

Mexican Beef Milanesa Sandwich

  • Braiser
  • 8 4 oz Beef Cutlets
  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Cup Plain Bread Crumbs
  • 2 Eggs (Beaten)
  • Vegetable Oil (for frying)
  • 8 Bolilo or Telera rolls
  • Chipoltle Mayonnaise (Recipe below)
  • 2 Roma Tomatoes (Sliced)
  • 2 Avacados (Sliced)
  • 1 Red Onion (Sliced thinly)
  • Pickled Jalapenos (Optional)
  • 1 Chipotle chile in adobo sauce (Diced)
  • 1 Lime
  • 1 Can Refried Pinto or Black beans (Heated til warm)

Chipotle Mayonnaise

  • 1 canned Chipotle chile in adobo sauce (Diced)
  • 1 tsp. lime juice
  • ¼ Cup Mayonnaise
  • Salt and Pepper (To taste)

Cutlets

  1. Season the cutlets with salt and pepper, to taste.

  2. Put the flour in a small dish season with salt and pepper.

  3. Place bread crumbs in another dish.

  4. Put the eggs in a small bowl and beat lightly.

  5. Dip the cutlets into the flour, then the eggs and finally into the bread crumbs, making sure to coat each side thouroughly.

  6. Heat oil in braiser or large skillet to 350°F. Fry the cutlets in batches as to not crowd the pan, until golden brown on each side. About 2-3 minutes each side, depending on thickness of course 😉 (I normally can fit 2- 3 pieces at a time in my braiser.)



  7. Once golden brown on each side, set on sheet pan lined with paper towel and a wire rack.



  8. In medium sauce pan, heat the refried beans over medium heat until heated through



Chipotle Mayonnaise

  1. In a small bowl mix together the diced chipotles and adobe with the mayonnaise, and half of a lime worth of lime juice, season with salt and pepper to taste.



To Assemble the Tortas

  1. Cut the rolls in half horizontally. Place one or two teaspoons of refried beans on top and bottom of each roll.

  2. Spread 1 teaspoon of the Chipotle Mayonnaise on top of refried beans, on top and bottom of each roll.

  3. Place the avacado and tomato on bottom of roll, place pickled jalapenos on top side of roll,



  4. Place the 1 cutlet on the bottom of each roll ( if they are smaller place 2 on each) Add slices of red onion and tomato slices. Place the tops of the rolls onto the bottoms.



  5. I serve with Steak Style French Fries I make in my Ninja Air Fryer Oven XL

Strawberry, goat cheese and spicy honey crostini

This was another crostini that I made for Christmas this year! So many people enjoyed this as it is sweet, spicy, creamy and crunchy! Lots of wonderful flavor going on with this one, your guests will be sure to love! 🍓

Strawberry, Goat Cheese and Spicy Honey Crostini

Crostini

  • 1 French Baguette (Sliced on a diagonal about 30 pieces)
  • 3 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Clove Garlic (cut in half)
  • 1 tsp Salt and Pepper

Strawberry Topping

  • 1 Quart Strawberries (sliced thin and stemmed)
  • 2 Tbsp. Mike's Hot Honey ()
  • 5.5 oz. Goat Cheese (spreadable style)
  • 2 tsp. Thyme leaves finely chopped (use fresh, not dried)

Crostini

  1. Pre-heat oven to 320° F

  2. Brush bread slices with oil, sprinkle with½ tsp. salt and pepper on both sides and bake for 4-5 minutes, remove bread and rub with garlic top and bottom, bake another 4-5 minutes until golden brown.

Strawberry Topping

  1. Spread tops of crostini with goat cheese and layer on strawberry slices (trying to make it look nice) Drizzle with the Spicy honey and sprinkle with Thyme leaves. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

smoked salmon with dill and cream cheese crostini

This is one of my Favorite appetizers! 💜 I love Crostini topped with anything! This one I made with a few others this year for Christmas, and they were a huge hit! Everyone loved them so much that there was none left!

Smoked Salmon with Dill and Cream Cheese Crostini

  • 1 French Baguette (sliced into ¼ inch slices on the diagonal)
  • 3 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Clove Garlic (cut in half)
  • 8 oz. Cream Cheese (Spreadable Style)
  • 2 tsp. Lemon Zest
  • 2 Tbsp. Lemon Juice
  • ¼ Cup Fresh Dill (Finely Chopped)
  • 1 lb. Smoked Salmon (I find it in the meat section of my grocery store)
  • 1 tsp. each Salt and Pepper
  • 3 oz. Capers

Crostini

  1. Pre-heat oven to 320° F

  2. Brush bread slices with oil, sprinkle with ½ tsp. salt and pepper on both sides and bake 4-6 minutes

  3. Remove from oven and while hot, rub with the garlic pieces and bake an additional 4-5 minutes until golden brown.

    Let cool before adding toppings.

Smoked Salmon Topping

  1. Mix together cream cheese, lemon zest, lemon juice, dill as well as other ½ tsp. salt and pepper.

  2. Spread mixture on top of each crostini piece.

  3. Lightly drape pieces of smoked salmon, you don't want to fold it, just lightly layer it so it looks nice. Top with a few capers and a little of the chopped dill. Chill for 1 hour before serving.
